Juicy, full of flavour and colourful- tropical fruit can’t get any better. Except when it’s coated in chocolate, dipped in nuts and served on a stick….
I’ve been looking at lots of wonderful Instagram photos of Fruit Pops so I thought it was time to give them a go- and they are as tasty as they look. These saintly treats are perfect for kids to make and enjoy too!
I bought the Cake Pop sticks from Sainsbury’s, in the baking aisle. I used tropical fruits and a combination of toppings, however experiment with other fruits and toppings- have fun with it!
200g good quality dark chocolate
2 tbsp chopped macadamia nuts
2 tbsp desiccated coconut
2 tbsp dried cranberries, halved
1 mango, sliced
1/2 small pineapple, chopped into bite sized pieces
2 kiwi fruits, sliced
1/2 small watermelon, seeds removed and sliced
1. Break up the chocolate into a heat proof bowl and heat in the microwave for one minute, stopping half way to stir (make sure you keep an eye on it, as it can burn quickly)
2. Place the chopped nuts, coconut and dried cranberries onto saucers, to make dipping easier.
3. Dip each piece of fruit into the melted chocolate and dip into one of the toppings. I dipped the mango and watermelon in chopped nuts; the pineapple in coconut and the kiwi slices in cranberries. Allow the chocolate to set by placing the fruit on a baking sheet.
4. Place lollipop/ cake pop sticks through the fruit and serve
